Job description
Overview

Male Support worker / driver – Casual hours – Cumnock. Ref: EG/TM 10/09/2025. Personal employer in Cumnock, East Ayrshire. Hours: as and when required. Hourly rate: £12.60. Location: Cumnock.

Personal Assistant / Companion required to provide social support to a gentleman in Cumnock. The gentleman is very independent and uses a wheelchair only when necessary. He uses oxygen and may occasionally feel up to going out, so companionship within his home is needed.

To provide social support, accompany the gentleman on outings to golf or fishing (weather permitting) and to appointments. He also enjoys going to occasional poker nights held on Thursday evenings.

At times, to assist with personal care, medication, making a meal/sandwich/drink.

Responsibilities
  • Provide social and companionship support, including outings to golf, fishing (weather permitting), appointments, and social events such as poker nights.
  • Assist with personal care as required.
  • Assist with medication administration as directed.
  • Prepare meals or snacks and provide refreshments.
  • Maintain confidentiality and behave in a reliable, respectful, and trustworthy manner.
  • Support responsible use of the employer’s vehicle when needed (driver’s license required).
Experience / Qualifications Required
  • Full driving licence is required; may occasionally drive the employer’s vehicle if the employer is unwell.
  • To apply, must be able to provide 2 up-to-date references and undergo PVG disclosure (employer will pay).
Qualities
  • Suitable for someone with a mature outlook who is comfortable supporting the employer in the noted activities.
  • Having an interest in golf would be an advantage.
  • Essential: reliable, trustworthy, respectful, and aware of confidentiality.
  • There is a 6-month probationary period attached to this post; this position is subject to a 6-month probationary period.
