About Pace Van Hire

Pace Van Hire is an independent, family‑run vehicle rental company with branches across London. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, a modern and reliable fleet, and efficient operations supported by a hands‑on, motivated team. This role plays a key part in ensuring our fleet is always in the right place at the right time to maximise bookings and maintain smooth daily operations.

About the Role

The Logistics Manager is responsible for coordinating vehicle movements between Pace Van Hire branches, delivering and collecting vehicles for customers, and ensuring each retail location has the correct stock mix to meet daily booking demands. You will assess vehicle availability, identify shortages or surpluses, and redistribute vans as needed to maximise utilisation.

The role also includes transporting vehicles with mechanical issues to our approved garages. A basic understanding of motor vehicles is helpful, though not required, as full training can be provided.

This is a hands‑on, driving‑focused logistics role that requires confidence driving a range of vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, including larger vans with tail lifts and tipper beds, often manoeuvred in tight spaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Move vehicles between Pace Van Hire branches to optimise fleet distribution.
  • Deliver and collect vehicles from customers as required.
  • Assess daily fleet needs and ensure each branch has the correct vehicle mix.
  • Maintain accurate logs of vehicle movements and allocations.
  • Conduct basic vehicle condition and safety checks.
  • Transport vehicles with mechanical issues to garages for repair.
  • Support branch teams with vehicle preparation, cleanliness, and readiness.
  • Work closely with management to report shortages or operational challenges.
  • Ensure all driving is carried out safely and in compliance with company and legal standards.
Requirements
  • Full manual UK driving licence held for at least 5 years.
  • Must be legally permitted to drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes (standard car licence).
  • Preferably a clean licence with no points or convictions.
  • Confident driving large vans, tail‑lift vehicles, and tippers in tight environments.
  • Previous driving, logistics, or vehicle rental experience preferred.
  • Basic mechanical understanding beneficial (training provided).
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Reliable, punctual, and customer‑focused.
  • Experience in vehicle hire, fleet logistics, or transport operations.
  • Familiarity with London roads and boroughs.
  • Strong problem‑solving ability when assessing fleet distribution.
Salary & Benefits
  • Paid 10‑hour day rate even when working reduced hours on bank holidays.
  • 28 days of paid holiday per year, plus Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day as additional paid non‑working days.
  • Opportunity for progression within a growing independent company.
  • Holiday allowance, pension, and other company benefits.
