Job overview

We are seeking a full‑time Locum Consultant Radiologist with an interest in Cardiothoracic Imaging to support the expansion of radiology services across multiple sites, including a new Community Diagnostic Centre opening December 2026.

We host a large lung cancer service, a tertiary cardiothoracic surgical unit and a regional PET centre.

Main duties of the job

Provide diagnostic services including CT, MRI, plain film reporting, ultrasound examinations and interventional procedures. Participate in oncological MDTs, clinico‑radiological meetings, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and opportunities for research with the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre.

Support a 1:10 diagnostic on‑call rota and be willing to undertake clinical sessions at neighbouring Trusts if required.

Collaborate with body radiologists at both sites and lead service development initiatives within the thoracic team.

Qualifications and experience
  • FRCR or equivalent.
  • Full registration with GMC, eligible for specialist register.
  • Successful completion of CESR qualification or possession of CCT at appointment.
  • Experience with advanced imaging techniques and a track record in research preferred.
Teaching and audit
  • Evidence of participation in clinical audit.
  • Original research publications.
Management skills
  • Develop, present, and operationalise coherent ideas for service delivery.
  • Effective teamwork and communication with patients, families and professionals.
  • Experience in change management.
Personal skills/qualities
  • Flexibility in a changing health service.
  • Proficient in Trust IT systems.
Practical requirements
  • Ability to travel between City Hospital Campus and Queen’s Medical Centre campus.
  • Availability for on‑call duties.
