Live-in Part-Time House, Security & Dog Sitter Location: Near Peterborough

We are seeking a responsible and dependable live-in House/Dog Sitter and Security Person to join a small, dedicated team looking after a large historic house open to the public. This is a part-time position ideally suited to someone with an early pension, or a background in the military or police service. The role includes accommodation in a self-contained two-bedroom flat on the second floor of the property, with a private entrance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-call security and house/dog-sitting cover for approximately: 30 mid-week nights per year
  • Up to 10 weekends per year
  • Provide 25 full mid-week days of security and house maintenance cover (8:00am–5:30pm with one-hour lunch) during periods when the full-time security staff member is off duty or on holiday
  • Work up to 30 afternoons between late May and September, offering security and room-stewarding while the house is open to the public (1:30pm–5:30pm)
  • Be available for additional hours as required and agreed in advance
  • Security checks and monitoring

  • Walking and caring for dogs
  • House and general maintenance tasks
  • Clearing and laying fires, bringing up logs
  • Grass cutting, hedge trimming, and similar outdoor tasks

Candidate Requirements:

  • Practical, reliable, and committed, with a flexible approach to work
  • Comfortable working independently as well as part of a small team
  • Physically fit, trustworthy, and honest
  • Fluency in English preferred
  • A love of dogs is essential
  • Full UK Driving Licence required
  • No formal qualifications required; practical experience and a proactive attitude are valued

Accommodation:

  • A two-bedroom, self-contained flat on site, located on the second floor with its own private entrance
  • Council tax and water included
  • Electricity bills covered up to an agreed cap
  • The property is unfurnished
