Role outline and purpose
Our College Library is more than a space for fiction and information resources. It is a welcoming physical environment for reading and study, a social space and meeting point for school clubs, and a digital hub where pupils develop research skills and critical thinking.

The Library Assistant will support the effective day‑to‑day operation of the Learning Resource Centre, ensuring it remains an attractive, inclusive and accessible resource for pupils, staff and visitors. Working in coordination with the Hampshire School Library Service, the role will stock, catalogue and organise resources that support teaching, learning and independent study.

Role responsibilities
  • To provide full library services, with the support of the Hampshire School Library Service, from 10.00 to 14.00
  • To create a visually appealing and inviting environment in the Library, producing displays of new reads, current popular books, and reviews by students
  • Provide a safe and welcoming space for students to use during lunch and break times, with attention to pupil well‑being
  • Supporting improvements to the reading culture throughout the school
Other Duties
  • Support the aims and ethos of the school.
  • Support the implementation of school policies and procedures.
  • Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety and child protection and safeguarding.
  • Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance.

This role profile is not exhaustive and will be subject to review. It may be amended to meet the changing needs of the college.
