A local educational authority is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work with students with special educational needs at Newtons Primary School. The candidate will support a pupil on a 1:1 basis while also assisting with group activities. Ideal applicants will have a proven background in special education, be patient, calm, and willing to work collaboratively with teachers and external professionals. A commitment to safeguarding children is essential. The position is permanent, requiring 32.5 hours weekly, with a start date in April 2026.

Newtons Primary School is looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant who has experience working with children with a range of special educational needs. The role is predominantly working as a 1:1 Support Assistant but some group work will be required.
Whilst you will be expected to work under the direction of the class teacher you will also have the ability to use your own initiative to organise tasks and activities; creating simple resources to support the pupil’s work as appropriate. You will work closely with the class teacher and the School’s SENCO as well as working in partnership with external contacts to support learning and development.
