Group IT are recruiting for an IT Portfolio Delivery Manager on a full-time permanent basis.

The IT Portfolio Delivery Manager is accountable for the overall coordination and successful delivery of the IT project portfolio, including initiatives related to security and lifecycle management of IT services. This role provides leadership to IT Project Managers through effective line management and ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to agreed quality and budget standards. The position reports directly to the Head of Portfolio Delivery.

The IT Portfolio Delivery Manager is also responsible for advancing the maturity of the IT Portfolio in alignment with established frameworks. The role drives continuous service improvement across all initiatives and enforces robust governance practices. By promoting a culture of accountability and operational excellence, the position ensures the portfolio delivers sustained business value while remaining fully aligned with strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the delivery of IT projects within a portfolio valued at £3–4 million.
  • Provide line management and development for IT Project Managers, ensuring effective assignment and performance.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, including Product Owners and IT leadership, to ensure alignment, prioritisation, and governance.
  • Manage internal resources and external service providers throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with timelines, quality standards, and budget commitments.
  • Support the Head of Portfolio Delivery with accurate financial reporting and stakeholder engagement activities.
Skills & experience you can bring to the role
Technical Expertise
  • Strong knowledge of hardware/software lifecycle processes, including end-of-life planning and patching.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-aligned change, release, and configuration management practices.
  • Proven experience in managing complex projects using Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Formal training in project and programme management, including financial management.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and external delivery partners.
Leadership & Communication
  • Ability to influence at senior management level and lead effectively at operational level.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Personal Attributes
  • Proactive, diplomatic, and solution-oriented.
  • Skilled in managing commercial and stakeholder relationships in enterprise-scale environments.
