Overview

Infrastructure Engineer role at Leidos – Farnborough, UK (Full-time onsite). Clearance: DV Developed Vetting.

What you will be doing

As a result of some exciting programme wins, we currently have a permanent vacancy for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to support the development, transition & in-service running (including capability upgrades) of an IT application and infrastructure solution providing support to a critical operational end user. The preferred candidate will demonstrate effective application of Infrastructure Engineering in secure environments, with expertise and extensive knowledge across a variety of technologies and platforms including VMware stack technologies (ESXi, vSphere, NSX, VCLM), Microsoft stack technologies (AD, DNS, GPO, WSUS etc.), Linux (RHEL) server management, and hardware such as Dell PowerEdge servers, PowerVault storage, QNAP, and Nexor data diodes. The role provides technical exposure across both project-based and operational (Business as Usual) support activities. You will contribute toward the creation and ongoing maintenance of technical documentation (LLDs, Work Instructions and Operational Wiki) and provide material to support project work or operational support services. You will work autonomously to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant results on project or operational deliverables, while ensuring compliance with Secure by Design, project milestones and customer KPIs and SLAs. You must communicate effectively with customers and colleagues, and demonstrate an analytical and systematic approach to technical challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Working with the team to plan and implement modern, scalable infrastructure using a range of new and emerging technologies including automation.
  • Collaborate with customers on all aspects of infrastructure management including the assurance and integration of infrastructure services to meet the needs of multiple lines of business
  • Recognise and exploit business opportunities by leveraging architecture and design best practice
  • Communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries, understanding the context.
  • Have Secure by Design at the forefront of any technology deployments and design input.
What we are looking for / Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge and experience of Window Server deployment and management in a data centre environment, including OS build, AD, DNS, WSUS, PKI and GPOs implementation and support
  • Strong experience in VMware virtualisation technologies (ESXi, vSphere, VCLM, NSX)
  • Appreciation of good practices for a successful data centre operation, including the installation and configuration of Dell hardware using iSCSI connectivity
  • Experience of configuring Dell networking switches, setting up VLANs, trunk and access ports along with best networking practices
  • Good general knowledge of Microsoft tooling such as PowerShell
  • Experience of Linux (RHEL)
  • Understand DevSecOps source control and solid experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling Terraform and Ansible
  • Additional experience of Ivanti, Trellix, Veeam Backup and Replication, Keycloak IDAM
  • Appreciation of containerisation (Docker) and Kubernetes (K8s)
  • Exposure to and understanding of hyperscale clouds such as AWS (AWS Cloud Practitioner preferred but not essential)
  • Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills, taking ownership of complex incidents and resolving them to the satisfaction of the customer
  • Experience operating in an Agile and/or Scaled Agile environment with Secure by Design as the default delivery approach, familiar with waterfall as well
  • DV Clearance is required.

Clearance Requirements

This role will require Developed Vetting (DV) Security Clearance. Applicants without DV may be suitable for the process and will be required to commence application immediately upon successful application.

Pay Range

£47,500.00-£60,900.00

Pay and benefits are a general guideline; final offer depends on responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, market data and applicable agreements.
