Overview

Join to apply for the INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER role at G4S.

G4S Facilities Management are recruiting a 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer on a full-time, permanent basis based in Cheltenham to provide on-site technical support for server infrastructure and LAN/WAN networks.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex technical problems that 1st or 2nd Line Support cannot handle.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve high-level networking problems, analyse and resolve system hardware defects, ensuring system reliability and performance.
  • Maintain and optimise the organisation's servers, networks, virtualised environments (Hyper-V, VMware ESXi), storage systems (SAN/NAS), and other infrastructure components.
  • Maintain and manage network security, performance, monitoring, and optimisation of our systems.
  • Log all calls on the call logging system and maintain complete documentation.
  • Support IT teams with advanced technical expertise, from safeguarding to network enhancements.
  • Work with IT colleagues to ensure backups of all business systems are fully managed, maintained, documented and disaster recovery procedures are regularly reviewed and tested.
  • Adhere to all Group Information Security policies and procedures in all aspects of the job role.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensure service excellence is delivered at all times.
  • Provide on-call services as part of a shift rotation pattern.
Essential qualifications
  • An understanding of Firewalls, Networking technologies, and Load Balancers.
  • Understanding network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS) and security best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across diverse systems, infrastructure, and architecture, including Microsoft AD, Group Policy, Windows Desktop & Windows Server OS (2012, 2016, 2022), DNS, DHCP, SCCM & MECM.
  • PowerShell scripting, Linux administration & SAN storage support.
  • Virtualisation Technologies, especially VMware/Hyper-V.
  • Experience in NetApp storage systems and management.
  • Previous experience in an IT infrastructure role.
