Job summary

A prominent UK hospital trust is seeking a Trust Doctor in Intensive Care to manage and support critically ill patients. The role involves responsibilities such as admitting patients to the ICU, conducting investigations, and participating in teaching. Candidates must have a Full GMC Registration and relevant postgraduate qualifications. Qualifications

  • Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Completion of audit cycle or quality improvement project.
  • Show engagement in patient safety projects.

Responsibilities

  • Review critically ill patients on ICU, emergency department, and wards.
  • Admit patients to the ICU under supervision.
  • Order and interpret investigations.
  • Ensure safe and effective handover between shifts.
  • Participate in audits, patient safety, and morbidity meetings.
  • Organise multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Engage in teaching programs that follow the FICM syllabus.

Skills

Ability to prioritise clinical workload
Safe and effective communication
At least 6 months experience working on an ICU
Simulation teaching or instructor for advanced life support course

Education

Full GMC Registration
Completion of Foundation Training or equivalent
Completion of basic training in anaesthesia, medicine, EM or ICM
MRCP, MRCEM, Primary FRCA or another post-graduate qualification
