Job description

Do you want to enable the green energy transition and build customized embedded control systems comprising software and hardware to meet the needs of our customers and the world for sustainable energy?

We believe HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) technology, which transmits energy over long distances with minimal losses, is a sustainable solution. It helps alleviate electricity quality issues and stabilizes power grids. For offshore wind power and underwater transmission, direct current is the only viable energy transfer method.

As a cybersecurity professional in HVDC, you will join a department responsible for designing automation systems for plants and transmissions. This includes designing control cabinet layouts with hundreds of circuit boards, user interfaces like HMI, diagnostic tools, and IT infrastructure with a focus on security, utilizing our in-house real-time platform MACH to meet industry standards.

We value potential and personal commitment equally with experience. Even if you do not meet all requirements, we encourage you to apply. Our team, diverse and collaborative, is eager to welcome you!

This role is primarily office-based in Glasgow. Please note we cannot provide visa support for this position.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Leading system, network, and cybersecurity implementations in HVDC projects
  • Building infrastructure of networks and systems to support operations
  • Ensuring cybersecurity levels in systems and networks
  • Developing architecture and functional descriptions for future HVDC cybersecurity solutions
  • Supporting projects in resolving cybersecurity issues
  • Coordinating with stakeholders to optimize cybersecurity solutions
  • Designing and developing secured network architecture for SCADA systems
  • Monitoring and validating third-party security patches
  • Implementing security features from device and system vendors
  • Establishing controls to prevent backdoors into SCADA networks
  • Implementing intrusion detection systems and conducting VAPT and technical audits
  • Assessing physical security of remote sites
  • Maintaining test environments and managing backups, images, and patches
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and collaborating with internal and external customers
  • Traveling abroad to participate in building power stations worldwide

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent
  • Fluent in English with strong communication skills
  • Experience with network equipment, redundant network design, and protocols
  • Proficiency with Microsoft OS, Active Directory, databases, scripting, and automation
  • Knowledge of intrusion detection, security event monitoring, and related systems
  • Experience with SCADA projects, HMI development, and electrical standards is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of C/C++ is advantageous
  • Experience establishing controls over SCADA network backdoors
