A local authority in the United Kingdom is seeking a Housing Allocations Team Leader to manage a dedicated team of Housing Allocations Officers. This role involves supporting applicants with housing needs and understanding the intricacies of housing legislation. The ideal candidate should possess strong management and organisational skills, as well as a genuine passion for helping those in need of social housing. The position offers a permanent contract with a focus on flexibility and employee wellbeing.

You’ll work within our Allocations Team, supporting and managing a team of Housing Allocations Officers as they work with applicants that have a recognised housing or medical need to move and manage expectations of those applying to join the register or those that are already registered and bidding.
To support this team, you’ll need excellent management and organisational skills, along with a genuine passion for supporting households in need of social housing.
Brighton & Hove City Council is committed to preventing homelessness and supporting applicants in housing need. As our Housing Allocations Team Leader, you will guide and develop a dedicated team of Housing Allocations Officers. You will need to understand that demand for social housing far outweighs the accommodation we have available and have a good understanding of Housing Legislation, Care Act legislation and Brighton & Hove Allocations Policy.
37 hours per week, pro rata for any hours less than 37.
Permanent contract. Salary is pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Team and service working arrangements are designed to support both employee work life balance and team collaboration. These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preference agreed with your manager in advance of joining. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
