Job summary

A local educational institution in Newport is seeking an Hourly Paid Additional Support Assistant to provide support to learners with additional learning needs. You will work on a 1:1 basis and in groups, ensuring all learners achieve their potential. Candidates should have experience working with young people with difficulties or disabilities and hold a Level 2 qualification with necessary GCSEs. This role offers £16.14 per hour for a minimum of 20 hours per week, up to June 2026.

Salary: £16.14 per hour

Role Summary: Support learners with additional learning needs to access the curriculum at Coleg Gwent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support learners on a 1:1 basis, including providing personal care when needed.
  • Work with learners on a group basis, collaborating closely with the curriculum and campus support teams.
  • Ensure learners meet their full potential.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with young people who have difficulties and/or disabilities.
  • Educated to Level 2 standard with four GCSEs including Maths and English at grade C or above.

Schedule: Minimum of 20 hours per week, fixed term until 26/06/26, must be available 9am – 4.30 pm.
