Qualifications

  • Must have a full NZ approved drivers licence.
  • Must have at least 2 years of prior NZ experience in either Housing, Mental health, Addictions or Corrections.
  • Must be eligible for NZ registration with relevant authorities.

  • Sunday to Thursday permanent roster each week
  • AM shift Week 1 (9am-5.30pm) and PM shift Week 2 (12.30pm-9pm)

About the Business:

Addington Hostel has been providing housing wrap‑around support to men for over 125 years. It is a 24‑hour staffed site for up to 88 men at any one time. The service supports men who typically have had prior involvement with Corrections, Mental Health or Addictions services. The average stay in service is around 3 months and we work towards moving the men into a permanent place of their own in the Community.

About the Role:

The Caseworker role provides ongoing 1:1 support for the men in responding to their need of helping to get permanent housing, health care, employment, connecting to whanau, finances and many other needs. You work alongside our Counsellors, Nurses and Support workers in providing wrap‑around support towards lifelong changes for the tangata in our service.

What will your responsibilities be:
  • Having a caseload of men that you are working with across the week.
  • Ensure you are fully recording your weekly engagement with each of the men.
  • Maintain your registration requirements.
  • Work alongside your co‑workers to provide a safe and welcoming working environment.
  • Represent the Salvation Army when working with other agencies.
  • Must have a NZ approved degree level qualification in Social Work/Nursing/Addictions/Counselling or NZ equivalent
  • Must be eligible for NZ registration with SWRB, NZAC, Dapaanz, Nursing Council (or NZ equivalent)
  • Must have at least 2 years of prior NZ experience in either Housing, Mental health, Addictions or Corrections (or similar)
  • Must have a full NZ approved drivers licence
  • Must be able to work the hours as outlined
  • Must be comfortable working in an all male client group (majority of staff are female)

This role is permanent full time and hours worked will be 40 per week.

The starting gross annual salary for this role will be part of the Social workers pay equity scale and fall between $74k and $102K depending upon your Caseworker experince (at least 2+ years) and qualifications.

The starting hourly rate for this role will fall between $35 and $49.
