About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an HGV Technician to join our established garage team. In this role you will perform routine maintenance, diagnosis and repairs on heavy goods vehicles. You will also ensure that trucks meet organisational safety and customer‑service standards. Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles (primarily DAF) and trailers to DVSA standards
  • Carrying out road tests
  • Executing roadside repairs on own fleet vehicles and trailers
  • Conducting planned routine maintenance on own fleet and third‑party fleet
  • Preparing MOTs for own fleet and third‑party fleet
  • Performing re‑chassis work and light fabrication
  • Maintaining scheduled maintenance records to ensure compliance with the company’s Operator’s licence
  • Providing out‑of‑hours breakdown cover for own fleet vehicles
  • Participating in relevant training and assessments
  • Complying with the company’s Health and Safety procedures and standards
  • Undertaking other duties of a similar nature as reasonably required by your line manager
Compensation & Hours
  • 4‑on‑4‑off day shift pattern (35 hours per week) – Salary £48,500
  • Monday‑to‑Friday shifts available (50 hours per week) – Salary £52,910

Required Skills and Experience

Ideally a HGV Technician/Mechanic with a time‑served motor vehicle technician background who has attained appropriate City & Guilds/NVQ/IRTEC qualifications. A HGV driving licence is desirable but not essential.

Derby: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required).
