A local waste management company in York is seeking a 7.5 Tonne Collection and Delivery Driver. The role requires a current HGV/LGV licence and involves operating a waste collection vehicle safely while assisting with waste disposal. This is a temporary role offering £14.72 per hour, with the potential for additional driving work after a minimum of 6 weeks. Training will be provided for candidates lacking experience in waste collection.
We require a driver with a current HGV/LGV licence (no driving work experience necessary). In this role, you will stay with a stationary HGV vehicle in the town centre whilst your colleagues load it, and you will empty the vehicle at a designated waste station several times per day.
You will drive and operate a waste collection vehicle using safe and efficient driving techniques in line with the client’s requirements. As an LGV/HGV driver you will assist in the provision of an effective and efficient waste collection and disposal service across the city centre, observing health and safety requirements and ensuring members of the public are kept safe.
You will work a variety of shifts between 5am and 10pm, Monday to Sunday (37 hours a week).
This is a temporary role for a minimum of 6 weeks, with the potential for additional driving work after this time.
Pay rate for this role is £14.72 per hour.
Previous experience with waste or recycling would be an advantage although the client will offer in‑house, on‑the‑job training and instruction on the various vehicles they operate in their fleet. Your experience as a driver will be utilised and your skills and knowledge base will increase.
