Job description

Northampton Depot

Salary: £29 994.03 + up to £4 000 Bonus + overtime

Hours: 40 hours

Schedule: Monday – Friday 7am – 3:30pm (must be flexible to work 1‑2 hours overtime daily if required)

We’re looking for an experienced HGV Driver to work at our Northampton depot. Our fleet includes a range of waste handling trucks, commercial vehicles, and plant machinery. The HGV Driver/Valeter will work from the depot delivering vehicles to customers and will be responsible for valeting vehicles to a high standard and completing necessary paperwork for the rental department.

Who will you be working for?

NRG Riverside is the UK’s largest municipal and specialist fleet hire company, offering specialist vehicles on short‑ and long‑term hire, a range of maintenance packages, and a large portfolio of high‑quality used vehicles for sale. Established in 1996, we support customers in rationalising and decarbonising their fleets, saving money and improving efficiency by reducing “Vehicle Off Road” (VOR) time.

What candidate are we looking for?
  • HGV Class 2 licence or above
  • CPC certification
  • Experience within a similar role (HGV Driver, HGV Valeter/Driver, Class 2 Driver, Class 1 Driver)
  • Excellent customer service skills and proficiency in completing paperwork
  • Flexibility to work overtime when required
What will be your duties?
  • Delivery and collection of HGV vehicles and transporting workshop vehicles to the HGV testing station
  • Completion of rental‑related paperwork
  • Valeting of HGV vehicles
  • Inspection of vehicles for damage, preparation for hire, and recording daily checks on runner vehicles
  • Collecting parts for the workshop as required
  • Liaising with the hire desk regularly
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy yard
