Job summary

A UK engineering company is seeking a Heat Chargehand for their Sheffield facility. You'll manage the heat treatment department output, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards, and assist in maintaining NADCAP and ISO compliance. The ideal candidate should understand customer specifications, possess excellent communication skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office. This role requires a structured approach and the ability to manage training and CAPEX projects effectively.

Qualifications

  • Able to read and understand customer specifications on heat treatment and material mechanical properties.
  • Good understanding of NADCAP Heat treatment, AS 9100 and ISO9001 requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Manage heat treatment department output adhering to Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to NADCAP procedures.
  • Assist with NADCAP audits alongside the Quality Engineer.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO9001 and AS9100 standards.
  • Identify departmental training requirements.
  • Ensure procedural maintenance of heat treatment processes.
  • Communicate effectively with the Technical team and other leads.
  • Develop and present departmental KPIs.
  • Manage CAPEX spend projects.

About The Role

We are looking for a Heat Chargehand in our Sheffield Facility, working on shifts you will be required to assist with the creation of heat treatment data cards to achieve customer mechanical testing requirements across a range of alloys, customers and specifications.


Principle Accountabilities


  • Daily management of the heat treatment department output ensuring site Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.

  • Ensure all NADCAP procedures are always adhered to

  • Assist the NADCAP audit along side the site Quality Engineer

  • Ensuring both ISO9001 and AS9100 standards’ requirements are adhered to

  • Identify departmental training requirements to ensure that site and departmental accreditations are maintain.

  • Ensuring procedural maintenance of the heat treatment process

  • Maintain a quality communication link with the Technical team and other departmental leads.

  • Manage, develop and present departmental KPI’s

  • Identify and manage CAPEX spend projects


Essential Skills And Attributes


  • Able to read and understand customer specifications on heat treatment and material mechanical properties.

  • Good understanding of NADCAP Heat treatment, AS 9100 and ISO9001 requirements

  • A self-starter

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Structured and disciplined

  • Competent working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Powerpoint).
