Health & Safety Specialist – Myton Food Group

Join us at our International Seafood Manufacturing Site in Grimsby to support the delivery of the Morrisons Manufacturing Health & Safety Strategy, drive health and safety standards across the site, and ensure a safe working environment for all colleagues.

Job Overview

Permanent position with a 5‑day working week over 7 days, offering a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and Morrisons policies for site management, staff and visitors.
  • Listen to and respond to colleagues at all levels to continuously improve the health and safety culture and reduce risks.
  • Document, update and communicate any changes to the Health, Safety and Environment management system.
  • Lead the site Health & Safety Management System, including risk assessments, policies, procedures and audits.
  • Manage contacts with authorities, legal teams, consultants and external partners.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences and occupational ill‑health cases using root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support environmental management, permits and authority engagement (e.g., effluent plants, fuel spillances).
  • Conduct independent health & safety audits, close out corrective actions and report to the HSE as required.
  • Escalate high‑risk incidents to management and coordinate enforcement actions.
  • Maintain compliance with safe working practices and workplace hygiene standards.
  • Ensure all staff receive appropriate health & safety training.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across sites, share best practice and coach colleagues on safety priorities.
Required Skills & Experience
  • NEBOSH General Certificate with extensive health & safety experience in warehousing, logistics, distribution or FMCG manufacturing; a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in fast‑paced operational environments, managing multiple stakeholders and delivering results.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, share best practice, and coach colleagues on safety.
  • Track record of driving key performance indicators, improving audit scores, accident statistics and reducing near misses.
  • Understanding of how unsafe practices can damage stock and impact service delivery.
  • Sound knowledge of the wider supply chain and confidence as a self‑starter to implement safe systems of work, risk assessment and accident reporting.
