The Role:

Focusrite seeks an exceptional Hardware Product UX & UI Designer to join a growing product design team. As a Designer at Focusrite & Novation, you will work with cross‑functional teams to conceptualise and deliver outstanding products, services, and experiences. The role focuses on product features, interactions, and interfaces, working closely with Industrial Designers, Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing to craft beautiful and intuitive solutions.

  • You enjoy hands‑on prototyping and are resourceful in creating effective prototypes.
  • You can objectively assess your own designs, facilitate and resolve differing perspectives.
  • You are always looking to improve your skills and practice to advance the Product Design Team.
What you'll do:
  • Work with Product Design, Product Management, Engineering & Marketing to conceptualise and deliver award‑winning hardware products and services.
  • Create and execute user‑research strategies that yield critical insight and shape project direction.
  • Advocate for end‑users, ensuring a deep understanding of users’ goals, needs, pain points, behaviours and contexts informs all work.
  • Develop User Stories and Use Cases, translating user needs into product requirements and documentation.
  • Lead team design activities, delivering sketches, wireframes, and interactive hardware prototypes.
  • Perform user‑experience testing to refine designs.
  • Work with technical leads to ensure designs meet cost and feasibility goals.
  • Present work to teams and stakeholders.
  • Measure the impact of designs on customers and business goals.
Skills and experience required:
  • Passion for great design and user experiences.
  • 3+ years’ experience in Hardware Product/Interaction Design with a portfolio demonstrating skills and process.
  • Ability to design for complex user needs and interactions between hardware and software.
  • A degree or relevant qualification in Product Design, User Experience, User Research, HCI, Visual Design, or related field.
  • Strong technical knowledge of music‑making tools, DAWs, DSP, and MIDI.
  • Experience leading a multi‑disciplinary team through a design process and delivering successful outcomes.
  • Growth mindset, self‑motivated, adventurous, and ambitious.
