Overview

We are looking for a Ground Investigation Engineer to join our team in Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to join an established and growing regional team, part of Tetra Tech’s 100 strong and expanding national geo-environmental resource.

The team provides ground investigation and geo-environmental consultancy services for private and public sector clients in development, health, education, defence and infrastructure. Your main duties and responsibilities will be to assist with the design, procurement, supervision and management of geotechnical and geo-environmental ground investigations.

Responsibilities
  • Production of desk study assessments, accurate collection of site data and production of detailed factual and interpretative reports.
  • Undertaking ground gas and groundwater monitoring works and assessment.
  • Assist with the design, procurement, supervision and management of geotechnical and geo-environmental ground investigations.
Skills, knowledge and experience

You will hold a degree in geology, engineering geology or a relevant environmental science discipline.

  • Experience of ground investigation, including scoping, set-up, logging, supervision, laboratory scheduling, groundwater and ground gas monitoring and factual reporting.
  • Willingness to travel for ground investigation works. At least 50% of the role will be site based and may involve overnight stays.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fully IT literate with ability to write clear, concise and technically robust reports.
  • Good understanding of health, safety and environmental management as applied to ground investigation.
  • Full, preferably clean, driving license.
  • Team player with strong social, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • SSSTS or SMSTS
  • Water Hygiene Card
  • First Aid (3 day courses)
  • CSCS card relevant to the position
