The General Manager is responsible for leading, managing and continuously developing all aspects of their store's business. They are accountable for creating and maintaining a positive and highly productive work environment that aligns with the company's mission. They will be responsible for consistently achieving sales & profitability goals, operational objectives, merchandising standards and developing a highly successful Sales, Operations, and Visual team that will be motivated to grow, contribute and advance with Alo.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the brand's retail strategies including customer experience, client relations management, employee performance, and community connectivity increasing brand awareness, driving traffic into the store, and broadening and developing the clientele base.
  • Leverage local market knowledge of the clientele base and brand competitors.
  • Stay aware of business trends related to the store and brand.
  • Make informed recommendations for store opportunities that will lead to increased sales, foot traffic and enhanced customer relationships and in-store experience.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen through KPIs to develop and support business-driving strategies.
  • Lead the team by leveraging company tools, incentives and strategies to support meeting sales goals.
  • Identify and communicate individual and team training needs.
  • Impact fitting room conversion ensuring clients are attended to, product needs are accessible, and sales execution is seamless and accurate.
  • People Leader
  • Facilitate new hire onboarding and ongoing training for existing staff.
  • Ensure that the Sales & Operations team conveys Alo's mission and values to visitors.
  • Drive and motivate the store team using company performance tools to achieve and exceed sales goals and store KPIs.
  • Establish development plans to support professional growth and talent needs at Alo.
  • Use performance tools to evaluate management and provide feedback to drive growth.
  • Monitor and address performance issues timely; conduct ongoing talent analysis and career progression planning.
  • Fill open positions prioritizing internal colleagues in Customer Experience, Commission and high-level selling areas.
  • Interview, hire, train, direct, manage, coach, develop, coordinate, evaluate and discipline direct and indirect reports; set strategy for work; provide insight and decision support; manage team to meet performance expectations; address and resolve complaints.
  • Utilize check-in processes as a tool for talent development and advancement.
  • Ensure staff adhere to wardrobe standards for the current season and represent the Alo brand.
  • Operations Leader
  • Ensure staff adherence to store standards (cleanliness, maintenance, replenishment) on selling floor and back of house.
  • Maintain Visual Merchandising standards and directives.
  • Supervise inventory management to maintain shrink at or below company targets.
  • Complete required daily and weekly reporting.
  • Manage headcount and payroll objectives for the store staff.
  • Implement tactics to maintain an effective P&L strategy.
  • Plan for future business needs to continually improve results.
  • Ensure transfers, consolidations, pricing, and shipping/receiving comply with company policies.
  • Recommend improvements to operational systems and processes.
  • Business Partner
  • Identify opportunities in product, sales, and team development and present ideas to corporate.
  • Resolve customer issues and/or complaints in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to support organizational goals.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including the executive team.
  • Partner with field and corporate leaders to establish in-season long-term strategies aligned with company initiatives.
  • Navigate the organization with a balance of business needs and brand culture.
  • Conduct regular store meetings to motivate the team and communicate brand activities and initiatives.
  • Reinforce company standards and policies and hold staff accountable in partnership with corporate.
  • General Manager Qualifications
  • Prior experience within retail or related industry experience
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
