Full Description:
Purpose of this role
The gardens at Grove House are an essential element of the experience that we offer our patients and families. They provide an attractive and peaceful environment that can be enjoyed all year round. Without our team of volunteer gardeners, we would not be able to maintain the gardens to such a high standard.
Main tasks
• weeding, planting and digging
• moving pots, bags of compost or garden furniture
• mowing the lawn
• shrub pruning
• cleaning paved areas
• occasional projects to redesign and replant areas of the garden
• repainting/re-staining garden furniture
• leaf sweeping and tidying during the winter months
• working in the greenhouse – watering, planting seeds, potting on etc.
What are we looking for?
• someone with good basic gardening knowledge and skills
• the ability to use gardening tools and manage the more heavy duty tasks such as lifting and digging
• someone who is reliable and flexible and enjoys working as part of a team
Time commitment
- Monday, Tuesday or Thursday mornings from March to November
Training and support
• there will be a named line manager who will provide ongoing support
• there will be some mandatory training that you will need to complete at the start of your volunteering with us and then periodically afterwards as refresher training
your line manager will organise training specific to your role
