Job summary

A leading defence organisation in Bristol is seeking a Missile Architect to define product structure and support deployment of policies. You will work in a hybrid setting and collaborate with various stakeholders on missile and weapons system designs. Ideal candidates will have a degree or equivalent experience, strong understanding of missiles, and project management skills. Qualifications

Missile Architect

Bristol

  • Salary: Circa £65,000 depending on experience
  • Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3 days per week on site
  • Security Clearance: British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship
  • All successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS) after the offer stage

As a Missile Architect within the newly formed Future Products team you will work to shape the next generation of MBDA products.

The opportunity
  • Define overall product structure, interfaces and architecture
  • Facilitate architectural trade studies
  • Support deployment of generic policies e.g. GMA, modularity & re-use, design for assembly
  • Assess technology application and maturity using design assessment tools
  • Support product technical and programme phase reviews

You’ll work with a wide range of stakeholders such as S&BD, Future Systems, MOD, DSTL and key industrial partners, and will have exposure to new technologies to develop brand new capabilities and designs.

Opportunities to shape and grow with the chance to lead a small multidisciplinary team, and to develop a deep understanding of early phase missile and weapons system design.

What we're looking for from you
  • Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative environment
  • Confidence to embrace the uncertain nature of early concept development
  • Desire to utilise new techniques and methods to develop concepts and system trade studies
  • Ability to manage a broad range of activities and experience with planning and task management
  • Solid understanding of missiles, subsystems and platforms
  • Relevant Systems Engineering knowledge
  • Ideally experienced in mechanical and/or electronic design (or broader engineering fields relevant such as Aero, Control, Structures, System Design, Software, etc.)
