Job description

Gathimba Edwards Foundation (GEF) aims to build a brighter future and enhance the quality of life for children and their families in Kenya and north-east Scotland. Focused on the pillars of Education, Shelter, and Wellbeing, GEF provides tailored support in areas such as school fees, housing, food assistance, and therapy, depending on the specific needs of each community. As a small charity with minimal overhead costs, GEF ensures transparency and maximizes the impact of the resources it receives. The organisation is dedicated to making a significant difference by directly addressing the challenges that hinder the development of these communities.

Role Description

GEF is establishing a dedicated Fundraising Advisory Board to help meet the growing demand for its life-changing services across north-east Scotland and Kenya. This new board will play a vital role in strengthening the charity’s fundraising strategy and providing additional support to the existing Board of Trustees.

GEF is seeking three experienced and values-aligned volunteers to join the new Advisory Board, which will comprise five members in total. The Board is expected to meet approximately three times per year, with members potentially taking an active role in one or two specific initiatives.

The Fundraising Advisory Board will contribute directly to two core agenda items at each meeting, supporting GEF’s renewed strategic focus on sustainable fundraising and long-term impact.

Qualifications

GEF hopes to attract volunteers who bring a combination of strong business networks, effective communication skills, experience or understanding of strategic sales, influence within the local business community, credible leadership abilities, and a clear alignment with the mission, values and objectives of the Gathimba Edwards Foundation.
