Freelance Projects Officer (Maternity Cover)

£17.72 per hour. Up to 17 hours a week for up to 12 months fixed term. Hours may reduce from April 2026 due to funding changes.

Green Synergy is seeking an experienced, caring and compassionate individual to deliver, cover and support face-to-face gardening and therapeutic horticulture project sessions on the community gardens that the charity manages in and around Lincoln.

The Freelance Project Officer (Maternity Cover) will support our Projects and Delivery Manager to facilitate adult social and therapeutic horticulture projects in the gardens. The role holder would support the projects delivery of adult sessions by empowering a wide range of volunteers and beneficiaries to access and enjoy horticulture. This includes assigning and demonstrating tasks in the garden, providing mentoring support and assist with session planning, delivery and developments.

Candidates will be confident in project delivery, have some outdoor gardening experience, able to work independently and delegate tasks according to individual abilities and be able to empathise and communicate sensitively with a wide range of people. Willingness and flexibility to do a wide range of tasks, such as supporting events is also required.

The role holder will need to be also confident in outdoor horticulture, be physically capable of lifting or digging, able to work independently and be able to empathise and communicate sensitively with a wide range of beneficiaries.

Job Role would operate be across a number of our mental health and wellbeing projects.
