Job summary

A renowned building materials supplier in England is seeking a detail-oriented Fleet Controller to manage transport operations and compliance. This role offers a fully funded Level 3 Transport Supervisor apprenticeship, ideal for those looking to grow in logistics or fleet management. Responsibilities

  • Keep driver and training records up to date.
  • Coordinate CPC, Plant, FLT & HIAB training.
  • Support branches with fleet administration and transport queries.
  • Manage vehicle compliance including defects and servicing.
  • Maintain fleet schedules and insurance.
  • Monitor driver behaviour and support efficiency improvements.
  • Investigate vehicle accidents and prepare reports.
  • Review Tacho infringements and produce monthly reports.
  • Assist with agency drivers and hire vehicle handling.

Job description

We’re looking for a driven, organised and detail‑focused Fleet Controller to join our team, based at Lords Builders Merchants Hayes, and train towards becoming a qualified Transport Supervisor through a fully funded Level 3 apprenticeship with the National Logistics Academy.

This role is perfect for someone who wants to build a long‑term career in transport operations, compliance and fleet management.

What you’ll do
  • Keep driver and training records up to date (H&S, CPC, licences, refreshers).
  • Coordinate CPC, Plant, FLT & HIAB training and send reminders for renewals.
  • Support branches with daily fleet administration and transport queries.
  • Manage vehicle compliance including defects, PMI sheets, MOTs and servicing.
  • Maintain fleet schedules, insurance, tax, fuel cards and leasing contacts.
  • Monitor driver behaviour using EPOD/telematics and support efficiency improvements.
  • Investigate vehicle accidents and incidents, prepare reports, and manage communication with insurance companies and branches.
  • Review Tacho infringements and produce monthly reports.
  • Assist with agency drivers, hire vehicles and accident/PCN handling.
What we’re looking for
  • Highly organised, confident with systems and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • A proactive communicator who enjoys working with drivers and branch teams.
  • Transport or logistics experience helpful, but not essential — full training provided.
  • Fully funded Level 3 Transport Supervisor apprenticeship.
  • Real career progression into transport, fleet, or compliance roles.
  • Supportive team environment within the wider Lords Group Trading network.

Hours: 7am-4pm Mon-Fri
