The School of Arts and Humanities is seeking an experienced Faculty Manager assigned to the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies.The Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (AMES) and its two departments, East Asian Studies and Middle Eastern Studies, combine world-class scholarship with a great teaching and learning environment for undergraduate () and postgraduate () students.The Faculty is a rich intellectual community that includes established academic staff, language instructors, postdocs, and research affiliates. Its academics are leading scholars in Arabic Studies, Chinese Studies, Hebrew Studies, Japanese Studies, Korean Studies, and Persian Studies, with many working across these cultures.Their internationally recognised work covers a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to history, literature, material culture, linguistics, social anthropology, politics, international relations, and religions of the Middle East and East Asia.They spearhead the mission to Globalize the Humanities, working across disciplines, by producing cutting-edge research that challenges received knowledge and expands how disciplines are conceptualised.The Faculty greatly values the teamwork between academic and professional services colleagues.The purpose of the role is to support the Faculty in achieving its strategic aims and objectives through effective management of the administration and operations of the Faculty.**About You**Reporting to the Secretary of the School you help shape and put into practice policies and processes that underpin the Faculty's activities. You will work closely with the Co-Chairs of Faculty in enabling the overall Faculty strategy. You will provide guidance and support to them and other senior staff in planning and implementing new developments for teaching and research. You will review and develop administrative policies and procedures. You will ensure that the Faculty office and its professional services staff work to the highest standards to realize the Faculty's strategy and mission. You will also be responsible for leading on and contributing to School-wide developments through the management of projects or a functional area.Educated to first degree level or with equivalent experience, you will have people management skills with experience of strategic planning, policy development, project management, service delivery and financial and resource management.This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of a leading academic institution, working at the heart of a vibrant and intellectually stimulating School.
