Fabrication Machine Operator - 3rd Shift

Job Overview
The Fabrication Machine Operator works as a valued member of the XL Specialized Trailers team, preparing and processing parts prior to assembly. The operator determines the sequence of operations, positions and secures dies, and regulates machining to produce high‑quality parts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Determine the sequence of operations by studying blueprints, specifications and work orders.
- Prepare machine for production by positioning and securing dies, stops, guides and turntables.
- Regulate machining by setting and adjusting controls.
- Produce parts by locating and marking reference points on the workpiece with rule, compass, template, etc., and positioning the workpiece against stops and guides or with a die.
- Maintain specifications by observing operations, detecting malfunctions, inspecting parts, adjusting controls, and replacing dies.
- Resolve production problems by altering the process to meet specifications and notifying the supervisor for additional resources.
- Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
- Maintain stock inventory by checking stock levels, anticipating needed stock, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt.
- Maintain production by identifying space for staged components, delivering components to work centers, and requisitioning additional components.
- Complete production record by recording and delivering tubs and pallets of finished stock.
- Document actions by completing production, quality and time forms.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations and wearing proper personal protective equipment.
- Identify and anticipate safety and health concerns and hazards by surveying environmental, operational and occupational conditions.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Ancillary Duties
- Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall operations of XL Specialized Trailers.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
Essential Skills and Experience
- Basic understanding of shop math.
- Ability to read blueprints and specifications and follow procedures.
- Attention to quality and pride in workmanship.
- Problem analysis and problem resolution at an organizational level.

Physical Demands
- Extended periods of standing.
- Frequent crouching, kneeling, bending and stooping.
- Occasional ascending/descending stairs or ladder.
- Occasional pushing or pulling.
- Ability to routinely lift 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to work overtime, including Saturdays.
Work Environment
Work is primarily performed indoors.
