Role: Maintenance Manager / Engineering Manager / Senior Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £52,500 to £60,000 per annum, plus annual bonus (up to 10%), private health care and benefits

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm or 8:00am – 4:00pm

Location: Commutable from Bolton, Preston, Blackburn, Leyland, Salford, Manchester, Wigan, Rochdale, Rufford and surrounding areas

We are currently recruiting an exciting career opportunity on behalf of a reputable and global company looking for an Engineering Manager / Maintenance Manager. The role involves heading up and overseeing the maintenance department at a large and busy factory. Candidates should be confident, energetic, passionate and drive to succeed in taking on this challenge. It is an opportunity to tackle problems, map out and make improvements, support various CAPEX projects and make the role your own within a fantastic management team.

Responsibilities
  • Report to the General Manager and take ownership and oversee/control the Engineering Maintenance Department for the site, leading a team of up to 2 Maintenance Team Leaders and 7 Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineers.
  • Effectively manage maintenance activities (planned and unplanned), continuous improvement, equipment reliability and ensure minimal downtime.
  • Manage a CMMS system and its continued integration and development within the team, encouraging buy‑in from the Engineers.
  • Take an active role in day‑to‑day and hands‑on maintenance work when required.
  • Drive and implement continuous improvements within the maintenance team to maximise efficiency.
  • Map out and coordinate projects and planned shut‑downs throughout the year.
  • Collate, analyse and report engineering, OEE, cost and process data in support of key targets and objectives.
  • Assist in the ongoing strategic plan of the factory.
  • Take an active role in increasing safety and quality standards across the business by highlighting hazards and making improvements in equipment and/or procedures.
  • People‑management activities for a team of Engineers, including recruitment, holidays, absence management and appraisals.
  • Work closely with the production department to help the plant deliver productivity goals.
Requirements
  • Qualified in Engineering with a background in either electrical or mechanical disciplines, ideally through a completed apprenticeship.
  • Experience working in a similar environment (Production, Manufacturing, Industrial, Facilities).
  • Experience leading Maintenance Engineers, at a level equivalent to Engineering Manager or ready to step up from a supervisory level.
  • Demonstrated ability to tackle problems and implement necessary changes and improvements.
  • Exceptional people‑engagement and management skills, including performance management, coaching, mentoring, supporting, praising and recognising staff.
  • Confident problem‑solving skills and experience.
  • Passion, desire and hunger for success in taking on a challenging and rewarding opportunity.
