Engineering Manager, Head of Engineering, Project Manager – R&D, Capital Equipment, Aviation

As our new Engineering Manager, you will lead a large team of talented multidisciplinary engineers across design, R&D and production (circa 20 people).

Your role is to motivate and develop your engineering team, not just across our site but globally across our group. The role will be varied, driving new product introduction (NPI), production engineering, re‑engineering, obsolescence, CAPEX and production support for engineering change.

You must be open and available to travel if needed.

Your Responsibilities
  • Lead our engineering team (design, production engineering, project, CAPEX)
  • Manage and drive our NPI including project management
  • Take ownership of our DFMA and service to improve product reliability
  • Manage a sizeable budget (£5m+)
  • Collaborate across the group to offset risk, product improvements and cost reduction projects
Your Background

As an Engineering Manager, you will have excellent project management skills from a design, R&D or an NPI environment and be able to take a product to production, be an excellent people manager, be commercially aware and ideally have worked within a multi‑site operation / global business.

Ideally, as an Engineering Manager you will have:

  • Proven experience leading a multidisciplinary design, R&D team of 10+ (ideally encompassing mechanical, electrical, electronic and firmware)
  • Machinery and/or equipment experience
  • Experience of DFM or DFMA, and ideally service
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, coach and lead your team
  • Very competent with ERP systems
Your Education
  • B.Eng / BSc or above in a relevant engineering subject – likely Electrical / Electronic Engineering or Mechanical Engineering related
