Job description

Cardiff Harbour Authority maintenance team was created to maintain the Cardiff Barrage. An Engineering post has become available as part of the Barrage Engineering Team.

About the job

Candidates must have gained a formal Mechanical or Electrical apprenticeship and have a suitable Engineering Certification (HNC or similar). The role requires a high level of engineering knowledge particularly with regards to hydraulic control. The successful candidate will be required to put together long and short term plans for scheduled works. They will ensure all critical spares are available and liaise with all those involved in the program of works. There is an expectation that the candidate will carry out maintenance activities on site alongside the engineering team.

What We Are Looking For From You

The post will provide a unique opportunity for those who have significant engineering experience either mechanical or electrical. The selected candidate will be expected to be flexible, an excellent team worker and have good communication skills. They must be enthusiastic and able to demonstrate initiative. Fault finding and problem solving skills are essential. In addition, heavy industry experience is a requirement of the post.

The successful candidate must be prepared to work outside of normal hours and in all weather conditions. In return Cardiff Harbour Authority will provide a training package to include the opportunity of further education and development.
