Job summary

The purpose of this role is to work as part of an integrated team, responsible for the safe installation, operation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems for the renewable energy sector. The role will support a range of Projects and Operations and Maintenance based activity across multiple wind farms and other electrical infrastructure sites across Orkney, Shetland, Western Isles and mainland Scotland.

This role is required to work closely with the General Manager – Renewables for local / daily planning and coordination of project works.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support the operation and maintenance of high voltage electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, and distribution panels.
2. Oversight of discipline support team/s and technicians, liaising with third parties to ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and industry standards.
3. Close liaison with the Electrical Systems Manager.
4. Ensure all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is appropriately used.
5. Work should adhere to THREE60 Electrical Safety Rules and associated supporting documents.
6. Maintain the required technical quality of work for installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems and components.
7. Actively participate in any pre-job inspections/toolbox talks for maintenance activities.
8. Ensure safe access and egress for all work parties.
9. Ensure tools and equipment are available, certified and fit for purpose.
10. Assist with routine preventative maintenance and unscheduled maintenance on wind turbines and other renewable technologies.
11. Ensure functionality of major electrical/mechanical components.
12. Assist with testing and troubleshooting to resolve problems.
13. Ensure completion of paperwork for each job, work orders, checklists.
14. Ensure all work undertaken is safe, and in compliance and accordance with statutory Health and Safety procedures, maintenance manuals, specific work instructions, safe systems of work and all recommended safe working practices.
15. Assist with other site operations tasks such as mechanical installation works, servicing of microwave communications systems, as directed by supervision.
16. Raise requirement for corrective works and liaise with supervision to set any target completion date.
17. Maintain compliance against any safety critical competencies in line with Company process.
18. Ensure all accidents, incidents, near misses and non-conformances are fully reported.
19. Support the wider THREE60 organisation for continued development and growth of business unit.
20. Identify opportunities for improvement in service delivery and feedback with recommendation for Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and training sessions.

Emergency Response
1. Support as part of any local Emergency Response team as required by the Company Emergency Response Procedures.

Competence Requirements

Knowledge & Qualifications
1. Appropriate vocational qualifications or certification in trade/discipline (i.e. HNC or NVQ Electrical or relevant industry) or work experience is essential.
2. GWO : Working at Height & Rescue is essential.
3. GWO : Manual Handling is essential.
4. GWO : Fire Awareness is essential.
5. GWO : First Aid is essential.
6. GWO : Sea Survival is desirable.
7. Renewable UK (RUK) Medical certificate is desirable.
8. Experience in Wind Turbine and other applicable Safety Rules is required.
9. Previous experience in project management is desirable.
10. Sound knowledge of wind farm service and project management processes and procedures.

Skills & Experience
1. Experience with electrical protection systems, mechanical equipment and the maintenance of wind turbines and/or experience in the offshore energy or marine industries.
2. Prior experience or exposure to working in the role of Senior Authorised Person (SAP) would support development opportunity. *Electrical discipline.
3. Ability to technically troubleshoot under pressure.
4. Effective communication / interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with multi-discipline teams.
5. Ability to influence and use tactful assertiveness to achieve required outcomes.
6. Responsive and open to changing circumstances.
7. Ability to motivate oneself and others to deliver.
8. Be fully flexible and willing to travel within the UK.
9. A positive ‘can-do’ attitude that encourages operational excellence and problem solving is essential.
