The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to join our Southampton team and lead the electrical delivery of a new Emergency Department at Dorchester County Hospital. You will be responsible for the full management and performance of the electrical works — including safety, quality, programme, commercial control, and client relationships — reporting to the Senior Project Manager.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Lead and motivate project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and maintain professional representation.
  • Communicate company updates, health, and safety requirements to the team.
Process
  • Oversee all electrical services activities in line with company process and IMS.
  • Prepare and present project reports, including monthly reviews.
  • Attend, minute, and where necessary chair meetings.
  • Lead procurement, approve valuations/invoices, and manage project risks.
  • Ensure installations comply with HTMs, HBNs, CQC standards, and statutory regulations.
  • Maintain compliance across all relevant electrical services.
  • Plan, sequence, and coordinate works to meet programme milestones.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Health, Safety & Environment
  • Enforce a strict safety culture and ensure CDM compliance.
  • Drive strong environmental performance.
Quality & Commissioning
  • Lead quality assurance from installation to testing and validation.
  • Ensure life-safety and critical systems meet required standards.
  • Conduct regular audits of electrical works.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build strong client relationships and communicate progress, risks, and changes clearly.
  • Ensure client requirements are met and expectations managed.
  • Work with the Quantity Surveyor to control cost, value, and change.
  • Maintain positive cash flow and deliver profitable outcomes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely cost reporting.
  • Produce O&M manuals, as-built records, and training materials.
  • Support soft landings and defect resolution.
What We Need From You
  • Proven experience as an Electrical Project Manager delivering £1m+ projects in regulated sectors (healthcare, defence, justice, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical building services and resilient power systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Commercial awareness and experience with procurement, subcontractor management, and M&E coordination.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and regulations.
  • Experience with digital tools and project software; BIM/Revit beneficial.
  • Understanding of sustainable construction practices.
  • Qualifications: HNC in Electrical Engineering/Building Services (desirable), CSCS (essential), SMSTS (essential).
