Job Details: Electrical Project Engineer
Pulse Structural Monitoring Group, part of Acteon Group, is a market leader in subsea structural monitoring, providing sophisticated systems and services to the oil & gas and renewables sectors worldwide since 1998. We are expanding our team and seeking a dedicated Electrical Project Engineer for a full-time, permanent role based in Wokingham.
This position supports the electrical project management team to ensure the successful delivery of monitoring systems projects within the energy sector. The role involves interfacing with multidisciplinary teams and clients throughout project design, delivery, and installation phases.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical interface between customers, suppliers, project management, and internal engineering teams, overseeing technical aspects of projects.
- Support client and supplier meetings, ensuring effective communication and minimizing specialist engineering involvement where possible.
- Understand and communicate customer requirements to engineering teams.
- Provide first-line engineering support to project managers.
- Assist in delivering projects on time and within budget, reporting progress, issues, and risks.
- Support system assembly, testing (FAT, SFAT), and troubleshooting, including developing test plans.
- Manage documentation in compliance with internal processes and ISO9001 standards.
- Interface with clients, including site visits, and support installation and commissioning, including offshore trips (~20-30 days/year).
- Provide onsite training and support for system commissioning.
- Collaborate with product development during manufacturing and testing.
- Assist in preparing progress reports, GANTT charts, and project documentation.
- Support internal testing and documentation efforts.
- Perform additional tasks within your skillset as required by management.
Requirements
- Engineering degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
- Several years of experience in a project environment, with knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to interpret wiring schematics and mechanical drawings; wiring skills are advantageous.
- Experience with PLCs, serial communication protocols (RS232, RS485), Ethernet, Modbus, RF (GNSS).
- Practical, hands-on knowledge of electronics and hardware.
- Ability to liaise effectively with clients and understand their technical needs.
- Computer literacy, including Windows OS configuration and hardware understanding.
- Experience with diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety standards.
- Mechanical knowledge is beneficial.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, especially during system integration and offshore installation.
- Organized, disciplined, and capable of managing complex schedules under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical information clearly.
- Motivated and focused on project delivery from start to finish.
