A community-based support organization in Sheffield seeks a Children's Personal Assistant to support an autistic young person in their home and community. Responsibilities include ensuring safety, providing personal care, and escorting to activities. Applicants should be friendly, organized, and willing to learn. This part-time, term-time role offers £12.21 per hour. If interested, send your CV to the provided email address.
IBK is a community based, not-for-profit social enterprise with over 20 years’ experience of providing Direct Payment Support to families, children and adults of all ages with a range of needs. We provide a bespoke matching service, finding the right PA for the right person.
The main focus of the support is to ensure this young person is safe and happy as well as providing respite to her Mum and enabling her Mum to also spend time with her older daughter. The role will involve doing activities in the home, and may also involve escorting the young person to her after school clubs or taking her to a local park as your confidence grows. There will be some preparing of meals and personal care also involved in the role. Experience of neurodiversity and alternative communication would be an advantage but Mum is a speech and language therapist who would happily support a PA to build their knowledge in this area.
Both the young person, her sister and her Mum are all autistic. For this reason, a PA who can use their initiative and adapt quickly to the needs of the family is essential.
