A regional healthcare trust in North Tyneside is looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to lead a team within the Early Intervention in Psychosis Team. The role requires clinical leadership, outpatient consultations, and contributions to service development. Candidates should have relevant qualifications such as MBBS and MRCPsych. As a Consultant, you will lead a team to deliver high‑quality care and improve service outcomes.
This is an exciting opportunity to work as a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist within the North Tyneside Early Intervention in Psychosis Team. The 6‑month funded post has become vacant following the departure of the previous post holder and is based in Benton View, Forest Hall.
You will join a well‑established multidisciplinary team covering localities 14‑65 years who are experiencing first symptoms of psychosis and to their families.
The multidisciplinary workforce includes a Child and Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist, community psychiatric nurses, psychologist, mental health and wellbeing practitioner, family therapist, individual placement support employment specialist and community support assistant. Administrative staff will also support you.

The North Northumberland CTT post is managed in the North Community Clinical Business Unit, operating under a Collective Leadership model.
Additional clinical support comes from a Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team, and Psychiatrical Liaison Teams based at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital and Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
The Trust constantly seeks to improve services and respond to changes in health care demand. The post holder should remain flexible and open to changes that enhance patient care, and play a central role in developing services.
Applicants should be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview, and should be suitably qualified, including eligibility for Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status.
