About The Role

The editor oversees all content for the PERE Deals brand, including website, alerts and newsletters as well as all associated publications. The editor sets the publications’ strategic focus in collaboration with the editor-in-chief, real estate. The editor serves as an ambassador for the brand, both inside and outside the company. The editor plays a key role in recruiting for the publication and performance management of the team.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Lead the communication of the big-picture editorial vision for the brand.
  • Determine news which should be covered.
  • Ensure content provides substantial off-diary/exclusive coverage alongside on-diary coverage and some analysis, commentaries and various digital editorials to justify subscription.
  • Take the lead by writing many of PERE Deals most impactful stories.
  • Assign stories to the PERE Deals editorial team and lead their editing.
  • Collaborate closely with PERE’s research team to help ensure the PERE Deals data offering is as fresh, complete and apposite as possible.
  • Coordinate coverage in conjunction with the coverage in PERE and PERE Credit.
  • Coordinate and where applicable, collaborate with other editors in the Real Estate Group on cross-title coverage.
  • On an ongoing basis, guide team members in developing their skills and careers.
  • Recruit and hire new members to the editorial team when needed.
  • Ensure the editorial team is deploying best practices in all activities and adhering to the highest journalistic ethics and standards.
  • Optimize content based on metrics to ensure content is relevant to our audience and is being produced to deliver performance.
  • Collaborate with peers in other editorial and non-editorial departments.
  • Work with upper management to ensure the brand is meeting the overall company’s goals.
  • Continually establish and keep close contact with important sources in the private real estate industry and their public relations representatives.
  • Participate in home and external industry events, including speaking on panels.
About You
Essential Experience
  • Extensive experience in business or financial reporting and editing preferred.
  • Experience covering commercial real estate, institutional markets or related financial fields a plus.
  • Experience managing editorial teams.
  • Computer proficiency, such as using the Microsoft Office Suite, online search tools, databases, WordPress, plus specialized tools to monitor website performance and SEO optimization.
Essential Knowledge/Skills
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong communication skills that manifest in quality interviewing; clear, concise writing;and a full range of editing skills, including line editing and top editing.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent observation and judgment skills to extract and develop compelling stories.
  • Familiarity with financial markets and investing, especially commercial real estate.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, such as LinkedIn.
