Job summary

A community support organization is seeking a dedicated Youth Support Worker in Hastings to assist Rangatahi in realizing their potential. This full-time role involves helping young people navigate challenges, access essential services, and work towards independence. Key responsibilities include supporting young people's objectives, maintaining an active caseload, and fostering strong relationships with families. The ideal candidate will have experience in youth support, an understanding of relevant social policies, and strong community ties grounded in Māori values.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people and their families.
  • Knowledge of benefit entitlements is essential.
  • Full, clean NZ driver licence required.

Responsibilities

  • Support Rangatahi and their whānau to access services.
  • Build strong relationships to keep Rangatahi engaged in education or training.
  • Maintain an active caseload, ensuring service standards are met.
  • Collaborate within a culturally safe team environment.

Skills

Experience working with Rangatahi
Understanding of Ministry of Social Development policies
Confidence using computers and online systems
Knowledge of local communities and Te Ao Māori values

Tools

Computer systems for applications and reporting
