A leading construction firm in the UK is seeking an HSW Advisor to support the CWA at Avonmouth for the Sizewell C project. The role requires a safety professional who drives standards and influences culture, focusing on HS&E guidance from design to implementation. Responsibilities include site inspections, risk assessments, and staff training. Candidates must have a NEBOSH National Diploma and experience in heavy civils activities. This position offers the chance to contribute to a cleaner energy future.
Specialized in civil engineering and engineering structures, Bouygues Travaux Publics is one of the world leaders in the fields of land use planning and sustainable infrastructure construction. Bouygues Travaux Publics is committed to diversity and is open to all talents.
We are recruiting for a HSW Advisor to join us at Avonmouth, supporting the CWA (Civil Works Alliance) as we continue to deliver the major infrastructure needed for Sizewell C. This project will create a 3.2GW low‑carbon power station supplying clean, reliable electricity to around six million homes — playing a vital role in securing the UK’s long‑term energy future for at least the next 60 years. As part of this programme, we are looking for a safety professional who is passionate about driving standards, influencing culture and making a meaningful impact on the wellbeing of everyone on site
You will provide hands‑on HS&E guidance from early design through to on‑site implementation. Support governance, compliance and legal obligations across our works, ensuring that safety, quality and environmental protection remain fundamental to how we deliver. A typical day would see you undertaking site inspections, carrying out pre‑work evaluations, preparing detailed reports, reviewing documentation, and helping project teams embed best practice in line with our Business Management System and ISO 14001 commitments.
To be successful here, you’ll bring strong influencing skills and the ability to promote a positive, collaborative safety culture. You’ll be experienced in incident investigation, confident working within the UK regulatory framework and familiar with the demands of complex civils and construction environments. You’ll also be able to communicate with clarity at all levels, prepare high‑quality reports and support teams through planning, risk control and continuous improvement. A NEBOSH National Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification) is essential, alongside CSCS competence. Experience with heavy civils activities — such as lifting operations, excavations, temporary works or working at height — will be highly valuable.
This is a chance to join a landmark national project and help create a safe, responsible and high‑performing environment for thousands of people contributing to a cleaner energy future.
