A leading global pharmaceutical company is offering an exciting undergraduate placement in Patient Advocacy and Medical Operations. This 12-month opportunity, starting on September 1st, 2026, focuses on developing critical skills including project management and communication while working across various departments. The Medical Affairs team serves as the bridge between Pfizer and the medical community, ensuring the accurate communication of information about medicines and vaccines. Their responsibilities include upholding scientific integrity, supporting clinical research, providing expert advice on compliance, and facilitating the safe and effective use of Pfizer products, to ultimately improve patient outcomes.
With a patient advocacy perspective, the team works to ensure the patient voice is heard and included in Pfizer's medicine and vaccine development, focusing on meeting the needs of healthcare professionals and patients, aligning with Pfizer's mission of “Breakthroughs that change patients’ lives”. The efforts emphasise meaningful patient involvement and better collaboration with patients and patient organisations. Colleagues work across Pfizer to promote patient‑centric values, enhancing Pfizer's leadership in patient engagement and partnerships.
What can I achieve and what will I be accountable for whilst completing a placement at Pfizer?
Pfizer provides you with the opportunity to work with experts in the pharmaceutical industry and has a wealth of opportunities available across a variety of departments. Through working within the Medical Affairs and Medical Operations teams you can look forward to developing critical academic and business skills and being a valued team player. These skills will include communication through liaising with colleagues and external stakeholders and giving presentations to immediate and wider teams, multi‑tasking through working on a variety of projects and also leadership by codesigning, and implementing specific projects.
Other responsibilities will include:
You will have opportunities to work with people from other departments including fellow undergraduate trainees, building networks, and understanding how different parts of the business operate. This will involve collaborating with other trainees and colleagues in various projects. You will also get opportunities to attend conferences, meetings, and training in relation to the projects that you work on as well as participating in Pfizer schemes such as volunteering.
Placements will start on 1st September 2026 and will run for 12 months.
Type of person we are looking for, in relation to ‘Skills’, ‘Knowledge’ and ‘Motivation’:
Applicants must be completing placement as part of a degree course at a UK University, either through Year in Industry/Industrial Placement or Gap Year.
