Position: Full-time, permanent

Location: Polmont, easily commutable from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling

Salary: £29,000 - £33,000 dependent on experience + benefits

Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an Ecologist to join our experienced team and support the delivery of our varied workload. Echoes Ecology is a well-established consultancy with nearly 20 years of success. Our reputation is built on a strong team of professional ecologists with a wide range of expertise. We deliver high-quality, practical solutions for our clients on a variety of project types including renewable energy, quarrying, housing developments, forestry, and infrastructure. As much of our work is located in central Scotland, overnight stays are rarely required. Responsibilities of this role
  • Planning and undertaking surveys including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, protected species surveys including bat emergence surveys and ecological assessments for EIAs
  • Ecological Clerk of Works duties
  • Preparation of technical reports including mitigation and compensation strategies and ecological enhancements
  • Licence applications and production of Species Protection Plans
  • Liaison with clients and contractors
  • Data management and analysis, including mapping and bat sound analysis.
The following criteria are essential
  • Experience of working in ecological consultancy and knowledge of ecological survey methodologies
  • Knowledge of Scottish wildlife legislation
  • Strong reporting skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communicative, team-working and organisational skills
  • Willingness to work outside normal office hours and occasionally away from home
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car which is insured for business purposes
