Job summary

A UK based engineering firm is seeking an experienced EC&I Engineer to lead the design and delivery of electrical and instrumentation systems across complex projects. You will be responsible for managing the full life cycle of system design, developing PLC/HMI software, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards. The ideal candidate should have substantial experience in EC&I systems, strong knowledge of PLC/HMI platforms, and proficiency in CAD tools. Qualifications

• Substantial experience in delivering EC&I systems in a complex or safety regulated sector.
• Strong knowledge of PLC/HMI systems such as Siemens S7/TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, Schneider Eco-structure.
• Proficient in producing electrical drawings using CAD tools such as AutoCAD electrical and EPLAN.
• Solid understanding of control system principles, instrumentation, motor control and variable speed drives.
• Familiarity with applicable standards and regulations such as BS EN 60204, BS EN 7671 and low voltage directives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full life cycle of EC&I system design.
• Define control system architectures and lead integration activities.
• Prepare and review detailed documentation including electrical schematics.
• Develop PLC/HMI software and interface logic.
• Coordinate with mechanical and safety engineering teams.
• Conduct design reviews ensuring compliance with standards.
• Support installation and commissioning activities.
• Act as a mentor to junior engineers.
• Liaise directly with clients throughout project life cycle.
• Support bids and proposals with technical insight.
