Reports to: Executive Leadership Team

Overview

The Head of Communications is accountable for leading and developing the organisation's communications portfolio, covering Mobile, Unified Communications (UC), and Internet of Things (IoT) services. This position plays a key role in driving growth across the communications function, supporting existing customers through value-added solutions, and ensuring the consistent delivery of high-performing voice, connectivity, and mobility services. The role works closely with senior stakeholders and technical leadership to align offerings, improve efficiency, and support long-term business objectives.

Core Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Direction
  • Define and execute the overall strategy for the communications function
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team specialising in mobile and UC solutions
  • Assess market trends and identify opportunities for expansion and service innovation
  • Promote cross-selling and upselling initiatives to maximise customer value
  • Service and Operational Oversight
  • Take ownership of daily operational performance across communications services
  • Partner with technology leadership to align and standardise mobile, UC, and connectivity solutions
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure smooth delivery, support, and service integration
  • Partner and Supplier Engagement
  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with strategic partners and suppliers
  • Lead commercial negotiations to secure favourable terms and reliable service outcomes
  • Use partner capabilities to strengthen the overall communications portfolio
  • Customer Experience
  • Champion service quality and reliability to maintain high customer satisfaction levels
  • Introduce structured feedback and improvement processes to enhance service delivery
  • Support sales and marketing activity by contributing technical and commercial expertise
  • Financial and Performance Management
  • Plan and control the communications budget with a focus on efficiency and return on investment
  • Track performance against financial and operational targets
  • Produce regular management reports and insights for executive review
Experience and Capabilities

Background and Knowledge

  • Demonstrable leadership experience within telecommunications or Unified Communications environments
  • Solid technical understanding of VOIP and connectivity services, including FTTC, FTTP, Leased Lines, and SEGEA
Key Skills
  • Strong people leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercially minded with the ability to translate strategy into execution
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and commercial agreements
  • Sound financial management and budgeting experience
