KS2 Class Teacher – Quainton Church of England School

Quainton Church of England School is seeking a passionate and committed KS2 teacher to join our thriving village school. The role is available due to a teacher being offered an incredible opportunity at a new school. We are very proud of our track record in developing teachers with staff moving into headships and deputy headships over the last few years!

The Class Teacher will:

  • teach a class of pupils, and ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs;
  • maintain the positive ethos and Christian vision of the school, both inside and outside the classroom;
  • contribute to constructive team-building amongst teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and governors;
  • ensure that the current teacher standards are met.

Duties:

  • implement agreed school policies and guidelines;
  • support initiatives decided by the Headteacher and staff;
  • plan appropriately to meet the needs of all pupils, through adaptation of tasks; to provide children with opportunities to manage their own learning and become independent learners;
  • be able to set clear targets, based on prior attainment, for pupils’ learning;
  • provide a stimulating classroom environment, where resources can be accessed appropriately by all pupils;
  • keep appropriate and efficient records, integrating formative and summative assessment into weekly and termly planning;
  • report to parents on the development, progress and attainment of pupils;
  • maintain good order and discipline amongst pupils, in accordance with the school's behaviour policy;
  • participate in meetings which relate to the school's management, curriculum, administration or organisation;
  • Take the lead on a whole school subject area;
  • communicate and co-operate with specialists from outside agencies;
  • lead, organise and direct support staff within the classroom;
  • participate in the performance management system for the appraisal of their own performance.
About you
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven experience teaching in KS2. Evidence of strong classroom practice and pupil progress
  • Secure understanding of the KS2 curriculum.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Ability to deliver engaging, inclusive lessons.
  • Skilled in using assessment to inform planning and support progress
  • High expectations of behaviour and achievement
  • Calm, positive and resilient.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
