Mechatronic Technician – Machine Control Systems [UK]

Description:

Wills Bros is seeking a motivated and technically minded Mechatronic Technician to support our growing operations across UK. This is a specialist, hands-on role at the cutting edge of construction technology, involving the installation, setup, and maintenance of advanced machine control systems on heavy plant machinery across major infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, commission, and maintain machine control systems
  • Fit sensors, GPS/GNSS antennas, radios, modems, and in-cab displays on heavy machinery
  • Ensure all installations meet manufacturer and project specifications
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and system checks
  • Support system upgrades and integration with hydraulic and mechanical components
  • Coordinate with operators, engineers, and project managers to ensure optimal machine performance
  • Provide technical guidance and support to site personnel
  • Assist with basic surveying and measurement tasks; record accurate data (training provided)
  • Maintain logs of work performed, system settings, and maintenance activities
  • Travel between multiple project locations across UK
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
  • Degree, diploma, or recognised trade qualification in Mechatronic, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Auto Electrical, or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with heavy plant, agricultural machinery, or commercial vehicles
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues
  • Understanding of hydraulics and electro-hydraulic systems
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Competent using laptops, tablets, and diagnostic software/equipment
  • Knowledge of GPS/GNSS technology
  • Full clean driving licence; willing to travel across UK
  • Valid Safe Pass (Ireland) / CSCS (UK)
