Job Overview

Gateley Legal is looking for a high‑performing Equity Capital Markets Associate or Senior Associate with a minimum of 4 years PQE to join a dynamic, supportive team. This role will be based in London or Birmingham, offering hybrid working. You will handle a diverse workload across equity capital markets, public M&A and corporate governance in sectors such as manufacturing, life sciences, construction, retail, technology, healthcare, financial services, real estate, recruitment, training and education. Prior cross‑border transactional experience is helpful but not essential. The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of matters and work closely with partners on complex work.

Gateley’s Equity Capital Markets team is led by Partners Paul Cliff and Sam Meiklejohn, supported by Martin Montgomery, Oliver Harker and Nigel Brown, and a team of associates and junior solicitors. What We’re Looking For
  • At least 4 years’ PQE with experience of equity capital markets and public M&A.
  • Experience handling equity capital markets transactions, including primary and secondary securities offerings on UK and international stock exchanges.
  • High‑quality technical legal skills and the confidence to provide commercial advice in a well‑reasoned manner.
  • Ability to take responsibility for mentoring junior team members.
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills and a willingness to learn.
  • A personable, enthusiastic, collaborative, and highly motivated individual.
  • Demonstrated capacity to build relationships with clients and pursue new business development opportunities.
Responsibilities

As an associate or senior associate you will:

  • Take ownership of assigned matters, developing packaging and managing progress.
  • Work closely with partners on complex and high‑value transactions.
  • Advising corporates, investment banks, brokers and major shareholders on a wide range of capital markets matters.
  • Identify and nurture new business opportunities within the team.
