The role

As a Marine Electrical Fitter, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be part of a team that plays a vital role in supporting the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where your skills will directly contribute to national defence and maritime safety. You’ll be working on complex electrical systems, solving real-world engineering challenges, and growing your expertise in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Day-to-day you’ll be:

  • Completing planned preventative maintenance and nuclear-related tasks to meet operational goals.
  • Performing electrical fitting, repairs and inspections on marine systems and equipment.
  • Identifying and resolving system defects to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Following health and safety protocols and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborating across departments to support wider engineering operations.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday, 07:15 to 16:45 and is based on site at HMNB Clyde Faslane.

Essential experience of the Marine Electrical Fitter
  • Background in marine or industrial engineering, with electrical maintenance experience.
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.
  • Skilled in reading technical drawings and solving problems with precision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards.
  • Familiarity with maintenance procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
Qualifications for the Marine Electrical Fitter

Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or NVQ or City & Guilds equivalent), or HNC and above in an Electrical Engineering discipline with relevant industry experience.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
