A leading transport company is seeking a skilled maintenance individual for the LTV Plant team in Reading. This role involves delivering preventative maintenance, fault finding, and supervising contractors. Candidates should have an NVQ Level 3 Engineering qualification and a strong background in facilities maintenance, alongside electrical skills. GWR is the custodian of Brunel's railway, carrying passengers to over 275 stations in the South West with more than 100 million journeys each year. We are transforming the way people think about train travel and empowering our team of over 6,000 people to deliver a great experience for customers.
About the team: There is a vacancy in the LTV Plant team, which maintains the Depot's at Reading and the LTV outstations (Oxford, West Ealing, Cocklebury). This role covers a wide range of assets at these locations to the required standards and includes supervising contractors working on GWR sites. The Plant team supports Reading Depot and outstations, operates 24 hours, and requires on-call availability. There is an expectation to live close to the depot to respond in a timely manner when required. We are seeking an individual with building facility, plant fitting and electrical skills, and an understanding of building management systems.
About the job: Delivery of routine preventative maintenance tasks on a variety of assets across the sites, and fault finding of the building and yard systems. This role suits someone who faults finds and solves problems proactively.
Reading Train Care Depot is a large, varied site with good transport links. The outstations are accessible by rail and road.
There is a day shift pattern, Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week with on-call requirements.
The successful candidate must live within a one-hour commute of the depot.
