Reporting to: Project QC Lead / Project Construction & Commissioning Manager
We are looking for Civil Inspectors for a long term contract based in North East England
The Role
As Project QC / Inspection Engineer, you will be responsible for auditing, inspecting, and verifying construction activities to ensure full compliance with contractual quality requirements, industry standards, and client specifications. You will play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture and driving quality excellence across the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and actively support project safety culture, practices, and procedures.
- Audit, inspect, and witness site activities to verify compliance with contract quality requirements.
- Support construction supervision in proactively preventing quality issues.
- Identify quality-related problems and initiate or recommend corrective actions.
- Undertake punch list activities on completed systems in line with design and procurement specifications.
- Ensure all punch items are closed out in accordance with project requirements.
- Maintain site Quality Control practices and documentation.
- Review and approve Inspection & Test Plans submitted by contractors and vendors.
- Review construction certification record books from contractors and vendors.
- Conduct supplier and subcontractor quality visits in line with agreed ITPs and travel plans.
- Report and document findings from QC visits.
- Provide weekly QC reports to the QC Lead.
- Contribute to weekly and monthly management reports.
- Deputise for the QC Lead and attend contractor meetings as required.
About You
- HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
- Proven experience within the civil engineering construction industry.
- Experience with equipment installation and structural steel installations.
- Strong understanding of industry standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and site layouts.
- Working knowledge of completion systems and ITRs to achieve mechanical completion.
- Strong organisational, communication, and reporting skills.
- Willingness to travel to contractor, subcontractor, and vendor facilities as required.
